Overview

With a facade redesigned by the celebrated British designer Thomas Heatherwick, an industrial concrete shell enriched with distinguished eclectic décor, and an unrivalled vantage point overlooking the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, The Silo Hotel Cape Town is a truly singular hotel. The Silo is decorated with the inimitable style of magpie collector Liz Biden: an eclectic mix of furnishings, many made to her specifications, with buttoned Chesterfields beneath Egyptian chandeliers, shimmering Persian rugs and bold colours. It is a comfortable, opulent nest in which to unwind, yet right in the heart of Cape Town’s buzz. Beyond the décor, the most striking feature of The Silo is its glass windows — their grain-inspired forms designed by Heatherwick to glow like lanterns above the harbour.

When booking this luxury hotel through One Luxury, you enjoy the following Serandipians by Traveller Made benefits:

  • Room upgrade, subject to availability upon arrival
  • Early check-in / late check-out, subject to availability on the day of arrival / departure
  • USD 100 hotel credit, redeemable across a range of services
  • USD 100 donation per booking to The Royal Portfolio Foundation’s philanthropic, conservation and sustainability projects

About Your Hotel

Location

The hotel is just steps from the Robben Island ferry, a five-minute walk from the V&A shopping centre and directly above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA). As by far the tallest building in the harbour, the views are true Instagram fodder: whether you are seated on plush velvet in the Willaston Bar, stretched out on a lounger on the rooftop or waking up in your super-king bed, the ant-like activity of tugboats, cars and dockworkers is every bit as mesmerising as the cloudscape swirling around Table Mountain.
