General Information
Visa
German citizens require a valid visa to enter the Maldives.
For tourist stays of less than 30 days, a tourist visa is issued upon arrival. This visa can be extended up to 90 days by written application. The application must be submitted and approved on site. A stay of more than 30 days cannot be guaranteed prior to departure.
Entry Requirements
German citizens require a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. A provisional passport is sufficient for entry.
A German national identity card does not entitle the holder to enter the Maldives.
Minors are not subject to any special regulations.
Prescription medications are subject to strict import controls. Upon import, a medical certificate in English is required, documenting the name of the medication, the patient and the daily dosage.
Further information on the import regulations of the Maldives can be found here.
Currency
The official currency is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR). It is recommended to carry cash in US dollars, as ATMs are often unavailable, particularly on smaller islands.
Most major international credit cards are accepted by the majority of resorts.
Health Advice
Medical care in the Maldives may be limited in some areas. Various resorts have their own doctor on site; however, technical equipment for treating more serious conditions is often lacking. In cases of acute illness, evacuation to Sri Lanka or India is usually necessary to ensure appropriate treatment.
It is advisable to take out international health insurance and repatriation cover.

No mandatory vaccinations are required for direct entry from Germany.
When entering from a yellow fever area, all travellers must provide proof of yellow fever vaccination.
Hepatitis A is recommended as a travel vaccination, as well as Hepatitis B and Typhoid for longer stays.

Nationwide, particularly immediately after the rainy season, there is an increased risk of disease transmission by the daytime-active Aedes mosquito. This mosquito species can transmit diseases such as Dengue fever, Zika virus or Chikungunya fever.
Exposure prophylaxis is recommended.
Exposure prophylaxis:
-Wear body-covering, light-coloured clothing
-Apply insect repellent to all exposed skin areas
The equatorial location of the individual islands results in particularly intense sun exposure around midday. Ensure adequate fluid intake, use appropriate sun protection and avoid prolonged direct sun exposure around midday where possible.

Location & Climate
The Maldives are an island nation southwest of India, located in the Indian Ocean. The nearly 1,200 islands stretch over almost 900 kilometres from north to south. The islands and atolls are surrounded by numerous reefs, which protect the islands from storms and ensure gentle waves on the beaches.
The climate in the Maldives is consistently warm and tropical with high humidity. Temperatures reach around 30°C during the day throughout the year, while they rarely drop below 25°C at night.
From December to approximately April, the drier northeast monsoon prevails in the Maldives, while from May to November the wetter southwest monsoon determines the weather. Due to the expanse of the Maldivian islands, local weather conditions may vary.
The months of September and October are considered the wettest, with an average of about 15 rainy days. In February, the driest month, it rains on average 3 days. However, rain showers in the Maldives are usually brief and the sun quickly reappears. It rarely rains continuously for an entire day or several consecutive days.
On most islands, even on days with rain showers, you can enjoy approximately 6 to 8 hours of sunshine. Divers may be more affected by the sometimes heavy showers and strong winds, as the seabed is stirred up and visibility while diving may be reduced even in the hours following the rain showers.
Diving with Whale Sharks
The underwater world of the Maldives is spectacular and teeming with life. During your diving excursions, you will constantly be accompanied by colourful schools of fish and majestic sea turtles.
However, the chance for a truly extraordinary encounter presents itself only during certain months of the year. There is hardly anything more thrilling than diving with sharks. Usually, you sit safely in a cage or the sharks are barely larger than yourself.
In the Maldives, however, you can dive with whale sharks — the largest sharks in the world. Gliding alongside these gentle giants through the coral reefs and crystal-clear waters is an unforgettable experience.
Romantic Beach Dinner
The Maldives are the perfect destination for a romantic couples’ getaway, honeymoon or dream wedding.
Nothing rounds off the perfect day together quite as beautifully as a romantic dinner on a pristine white beach with the most stunning sunset in the world.
Begin your shared journey with your feet in the fine sand of the Maldivian dream islands while enjoying a multi-course meal of the highest calibre.
Incredible locations also offer spectacular experiences for further dinners. Spend the evening surrounded by a sea of candles and torches, in a tropical paradise framed by palm trees, or on a shallow sandbank with your feet in the warm Indian Ocean.
Submarine Tours through Coral Reefs
The underwater world of the Maldives is rich in species and full of wondrous things waiting to be discovered.
Not everyone can or wants to dive or swim alongside sharks and rays. Yet, the underwater world of the Maldives can also be explored effortlessly and from the comfort of a reclining seat.
Various hotels offer submarine tours through the house reef and the fascinating rock formations in the different atolls.
The selection of submarines ranges from small vessels with a capacity of approximately 10 passengers to larger submarines for up to 50 passengers. Inside, you can enjoy a cool drink, recline in the cushioned seat and admire the colourful marine life through the large portholes.
The Maldives are the ideal holiday destination for anyone seeking relaxation and respite from the stresses of everyday life. The flight time to this island paradise is comparatively short at around 10 hours, and thanks to a wide range of flight connections, the Maldives can often be reached by direct flight.
The approach to the respective resort island is an absolute highlight in itself, as the individual islands emerge from the azure sea like sparkling emeralds.
The transfer by seaplane or speedboat to the resort is supremely comfortable, and so your holiday begins the moment you land on the main island.
Every Maldivian island offers incomparably fine sand on its endless beaches and lush vegetation that is home to many exotic creatures. There is always something new to discover on each island, and even a quiet evening stroll is a special experience time and again. The crowning glory of every evening on the beach are the incredible sunsets that bathe the entire sea in a warm orange glow.
The underwater world of the Maldives ranks among the most extraordinary in the world. The coral reefs surrounding the islands offer both beginners and experienced divers outstanding opportunities to marvel at schools of fish, rays and even sharks. A particularly memorable experience for any diver is a dive with the gentle giants of the Maldives — the whale sharks.
Mauritius is a world unto itself – if you think of the holiday destination Mauritius as “merely” powder-soft white sandy beaches, wonderfully clear water, paradisiacal fauna and the most beautiful hotels in the world, you are doing this island a great injustice, because Mauritius has far more to offer. This enchanting island holds surprises in store for you that you simply must not miss!
LUXURY TRAVEL MAURITIUS
In romantic seclusion and a dreamlike setting, you will quickly forget the everyday routine and let your soul unwind in a hotel in the Maldives. Would you also like to book your luxury trip and explore the Maldives? Then get in touch with us today and we will plan your luxury trip to the Maldives together, ensuring you enjoy a truly wonderful holiday.
The Maldives are renowned for having the bluest seas and the whitest sand awaiting you. You can stroll along the sugar-white beaches of your hotel or find peace in the shade of a palm tree. From here, you have a superb view of the crystal-clear waters and can admire the underwater world below — or plunge into the pristine waters and experience it first-hand.
Impressive encounters await you, such as with the whale shark or various coral formations that you can discover during a dive.
Of course, you do not necessarily need to snorkel or dive, as your luxury trip to the Maldives offers far more than just an incomparable underwater world.
Take your time and explore the island, learning more about the land and its people. The endless white beaches and the seclusion will quickly bring you peace of mind, allowing you to forget the stresses of everyday life and recharge in one of the hotels.
The many small private islands define the idyllic way of life in the Maldives. There are numerous overwater villas and beach bungalows where couples or diving enthusiasts can enjoy their holiday in complete privacy. After a beautiful, relaxing day by the sea, you can round off your day with a sundowner at the hotel bar. For couples, a romantic candlelight dinner under a clear starry sky directly on the beach is, of course, an absolute must. We are happy to assist with the organisation and find the perfect accommodation in a luxury hotel in the Maldives for you.
In total, the Maldives comprise over 1,000 islands and smaller islets situated in the heart of the Indian Ocean. They are famous above all for their snow-white coral beaches, where incredibly blue and crystal-clear water collects in the lagoons. Here, you may bathe in seclusion or simply marvel at the breathtaking blue.
The water temperatures are pleasant, and the tropical holiday dream can be reached within just eight hours by air. Those who take the overnight flight can already dive into the silky-soft waters of the Maldives the very next morning. Wait no longer — book your luxury hotel in the Maldives today!
Dive In and Explore the Underwater World
The underwater world of the Maldives in particular invites you to take the plunge. The abundance of marine life in the Maldives is enormous, drawing divers from all over the world year after year. But even non-divers can quickly find themselves in raptures while snorkelling, becoming underwater enthusiasts in no time. Tourism in the Maldives is perfectly organised, so you can still relax in peace without worrying about sharing the beach with too many other guests.
Stay in Dream Accommodation
In the past, the Maldives offered only semi-open accommodation and rice and fish to eat. Today’s luxury resorts feature spectacular offerings and first-class suites, providing you with far more diverse options. On the island of Huvafen Fushi in the north, for example, you will find the world’s first underwater spa luxury hotel.
Regardless of which luxury hotel in the Maldives you choose, you will find white sandy beaches and stunningly beautiful nature included everywhere. Each island has its own unique character, so we are happy to advise you on which one is right for you. Everywhere you will find a green heart, turquoise waters and the beloved white sandy beach.
Experience Unparalleled Seclusion
Do you still remember what silence sounds like? Or do you recall the sound of the wind as it blows through semi-open bungalows? If not, then it is time to book your trip to the Maldives. The bungalows are fitted with numerous luxury amenities so you can feel at home immediately. The luxury hotels in the Maldives offer beautiful accommodation where you will feel right at home from the moment you arrive.
Pack your suitcase and travel to a small island that is reserved exclusively for you and your partner. You can stroll along the beach at leisure or arrange a dinner directly by the sea. You decide what your luxury trip looks like and which activities you would like to pursue.
We are at your side every step of the way, creating your dream holiday together with you, exactly as you envision it. Before you know it, you can experience and savour this tropical dream for yourself.
The best time for a holiday in the Maldives is from March to April. Temperatures are consistently around 30°C and the air is pleasant and less humid than during the rest of the year. Due to the monsoon change, rain showers are less frequent and only of short duration.
The most affordable time to travel to the Maldives is during the European summer. The summer months of July to September are characterised by heavy rain showers.
The rainy season in the Maldives runs from June to November. During this period, it rains approximately 13 days per month. However, these showers are usually brief and tend to occur towards the evening, meaning that even on rainy days, several hours of sunshine can be enjoyed.
A two-week holiday at 5-star level costs approximately €5,000 for two people during the off-season, depending on the flight route, booking time and accommodation. Depending on the choice of hotel and travel dates, prices for a two-week holiday in the Maldives can increase significantly.
Food prices in the Maldives are very high compared to other countries in the region, as very few food products originate directly from the islands. Most food must be imported from abroad, which drives up the prices accordingly.
For a holiday in the Maldives, you should budget at least €200 per person per day for accommodation and meals. In addition, there are the flights and the transfer to the respective island.
If you make use of the wide range of leisure activities on the islands and have not booked an all-inclusive package, you should budget for incidental expenses of approximately €100–200 per day.
A stay of 9 to 12 days is generally recommended. This timeframe is perfect for exploring the entire island and making the most of the extensive leisure activities, while also recovering from everyday life in a relaxed manner.
The Maldives have been a sovereign nation since 1965 and are located in the Indian Ocean, southwest of the Indian subcontinent.
One of the best resorts for families with children is the Lily Beach Resort & Spa, which not only has children’s pools but also offers an excellent kids’ club.
The various islands of the Maldives each have their own charm. Not every island appeals to every holidaymaker. Depending on your wishes, different islands are suited for your dream holiday — based on the range of leisure activities, spa offerings or the availability of diving spots.
You should refrain from taking souvenirs from the sea, as this may result in fines upon departure or upon re-entry to Germany.
No mandatory vaccinations are required for direct entry from Germany. Hepatitis A is recommended as a travel vaccination, as well as Hepatitis B and Typhoid for longer stays.
Travel to the Maldives can be considered very safe. There is virtually no crime on the resort islands, and threats from natural disasters are extremely rare. During the rainy season, in rare cases, diseases may be transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. However, this can easily be avoided by using mosquito repellent.
